Thefts, Robbery, Larceny The
Not-So Natural Disasters
Even with public concern about
the Identity Crisis becoming so prevalent recently, the chances are you and
those around you think thefts, robbery and larceny can never happen to you.
Unfortunately it does happen to nice people, and can be as devastating as any
natural disaster. Consider the following facts researched by Sentry-Safe.

residential burglaries were committed in the United States
·Almost 62 percent of
all burglaries involved the use of forcible entry

were committed during the 6 am to 6 pm daytime hours
·The average loss per
incident of residential burglary was $1,607

Documents and Valuables That Can Sink You If Stolen Or Lost
The reason we are so serious
about bringing this to your attention is the grief people suffer when simple
and effective security is available to minimize or eliminate such
predicaments.
To review the items that should
be in a safe in your residence, or business, or wherever are listed on our Record Retentions page and should be printed out for you to go to work on.
The Proper Safe Can Prevent A
Devastating Loss
Safes come in a number of
configurations and sizes, and thought must given to what you expect from the
safe. Our line of safes includes Box, Chest, Media, Personal, Home Office,
Commercial, and can be simply a security safe, a fireproof safe, a fire
resistant safe, a gun safe or one of numerous other kinds.
For your personal papers, cash,
heirlooms, and other valuables, we believe you should have at least
fireproofing, and there are two duration specifications for the resistance
protection.
If your circumstances dictate
protection from flooding and other water damage, the incremental added cost of
protection against water damage needs to be added.
As our safes increase in size
and capacity, many have a built-in system for bolting to the floor, (or wall)
for a wall safe which maximizes protection. This is especially important where
concern for disaster is strong, such as where a potential for fires (western
forests, and prairie wind-blown fires), and floods (lake, river and ocean
flood plains proximities) exists.
But even in burglaries or
hurricanes, being fixed to the floor would keep the safe tied to the floor, no
matter where the floor might travel to, and make it almost impossible to steel
or lose..
As a bonus
to our customers, we
will supply any purchaser of a safe from us with a plate that is
engraved with your name, address (and phone number, if desired) and is
impervious to the conditions the safe might encounter. It will come with an
epoxy equally as indestructible as the plate so should it float or be blown
(remember the pictures of relocated cars in recent hurricanes) to some other
point, you can be notified by the finders.
Since it can not be opened
except with your specific key or code, you need this type of outside
identification, and it must be able to survive anything the safe can survive.
One plate is available for each safe you buy.
Size Of The Safe
Only you can determine the size
of the safe you would require. Or the style of the inside layout. You should
approach such a determination by reviewing our Record Retention page and
estimating the size required from there.
Add to the document/records
batch any other items you would want protected. Many people want their wedding
album in the safe or vault, and even more have put their life's photos on CD's
or DVD discs, (review the special considerations for discs in the Chart of
Safes) and they can go in the safe.
Add to that any jewelry,
heirlooms, artwork or other valuable property you want to survive any
disaster.
Now, we recommend increasing the
size you arrive at by at least 30%, since we all "grow" the number
of items we'd want to save. Of course, you could always buy and additional
safe for the extra, but 30% should preclude worrying about that.
Now Or Later
Don't underestimate the potential for the occurrence of a disaster. You will
not experience them all, but the possibility for undergoing any of the many
types there are, makes safeguarding your papers, documents, photos, cash,
heirlooms, valuable jewelry, and other irreplaceable items worth it.
